It’s all about Leadership

It was an event to celebrate the launch of a new product, something that would revolutionize the way work is done. It was also a recognition of the long and arduous journey travelled by a small group of committed people for a decade and a half. While all this was being spoken about, one person on stage put his finger on what all this was actually built on, ie, leadership.

That’s when it hit me that everyone had been talking about and celebrating the outcomes of leadership — be it the game changing product, a vibrant organization filled with talented people or a list of marquee customers across the globe. At its heart lay a leadership that was truly transformational in its impact. Its a leadership style that takes longer, chooses what is right over what is convenient especially when it is difficult, invests in building people not using them, sees beyond short term or personal gains, it bets on people not the market (technology), it shares a vision that keeps becoming bigger, it is genuine, it is personal and ultimately as corny as it sounds, helps people become the best version of themselves.

What we were really celebrating last evening was leadership!
