How to Spend Your Salary

Early in my career, I was lucky to have a manager who tried to impress upon me (and our entire department) the need to not just read, but to actually invest in buying books. While I was all for reading, spending money regularly on it seemed pushing it too far!

But he wouldn’t take no (or our silence) for an answer, he challenged us to begin by buying at least 1 book per month and to do it the very day we receive our salary!

This somehow has stayed with me all these years (even though I haven’t been faithful in putting it to practice). These days I am all for sacrificing a chicken biryani (or two) if it means I can get my hands on a good book!
