Don’t be the F-ing METRO
Living in Chennai, the Metro rail while much needed has been the bane of people living in the route — bad traffic and rains have just become horrible. While it is a complex infrastructure project, should one accept the long timelines as a feature as opposed to a bug, can there be better communication and accountability practices, etc.
But before I rush to tell the govt how to do its job, I wanted to reflect on the work being done by our team (People Ops, Kissflow) and see if we were guilty of some of the same shoddy approach. While we might be working on critical items that will impact the org in the long term, are we inconveniencing employees on a daily basis? Are we making their daily lives better today instead of asking them to wait for an indefinite time in the future?
These were some points that we deliberated on to help avoid this mistaken approach.
