As a realist, I agree with cases of discrimination existing in society, I am however cautious to label all / any inequality in representation as a outcome of this. Studies have shown that the more gender equal the society is (Scandinavian countries), the less likely are you to see women in STEM / Tech. Strangely the reverse is also true — since those not interested in STEM / Tech , but good at it, still take it up because of the higher financial incentives (goes for men and women).

This might run counter to the narrative, but am assuming that anyone who wants to do science will go where the evidence leads them. http://www.thejournal.ie/gender-equality-countries-stem-girls-3848156-Feb2018/.

I am looking for those discussions which have a more nuanced take on the issue rather than throw blanket statements saying they want 50–50 representation, companies / managers are biased / misogynistic / patriarchal, etc.
